About us - a family affair...
The Hayes Family
Uphill Farm is home to the Hayes family. Charlotte runs the weddings and events here, with the help of her husband Christopher (Toph)—who also serves in the Royal Navy as a Clearance Diver. Often found during an event gently debating over who is the real head chef (it's Charlotte, however Toph is the master of the fire pit!), Charlotte and Toph started this business with the aim to share their passion for hosting and cooking.
Charlotte will be the first person our wedding couples meet when they view the venue and the last person they see as they leave as a married pair. A trained chef with a passion for feasting, she plans each special day with our couples and becomes so invested that there’s no chance of the day being anything short of a total success.
Together, they make all the charcuterie served across our canapés, antipasti boards, and wood-fired pizzas. Toph also built the bathrooms and kitchens within the walled garden using timber from the farm, and hand built our huge bricked wood-fired oven and firepits.
Alongside their love for food, Charlotte and Toph are passionate gardeners. Charlotte often grows and arranges the bouquets and florals for weddings, while Toph is responsible for maintaining those perfectly striped lawns!
They live at Uphill with their two young children and Toph's parents, Jeremy and Nikki. Jeremy and Nikki run the farm and provide vital event support—from babysitting and gardening to managing guest parking (Jeremy is often to be spotted in his signature hi-vis jacket as guests arrive!).

Fun fact Tracey has had two of her children get married here - her daughters wedding was the first hosted here (other than Charlotte & Toph's)

Debbie mission in life is to make sure no one's glass is ever empty during the drinks reception!

Olena is a whizz with canapés, and stretches out pizza dough at lightning speed, she has the brightest smile and gives the best hugs!

The back bone of our team, without him our clean down would crumble! Usually found at the entrance to the wood fired oven where its hotter than the sun! A pro with a pizza spinner.
Phoebe
Keeps our bar and cocktails flowing like a dream, probably the best laugh in all of Devon.
Erin
Been with us from the very beginning... the things she has seen!!! She can be put to work anywhere. If we lost her it would feel like loosing a leg! However she is know for forgetting to put cheese on pizzas!
Tonie
Chef of dreams (dreams full of cake)! Happiest when doing desserts, least happy when asked to make crackling! As smiley as a Cheshire cat.
